Careers Education Information and Guidance (CEIAG)

All students are entitled to CEIAG which meets professional standards of practice and is student centered, impartial and confidential.

At Swallow Hill the CEIAG is integrated into the students’ experience of the whole curriculum and is based on a partnership with them and their parents and carers.  It is differentiated and personalised according to ability and is appropriate to students stage of learning.  Ultimately it will raise aspirations, challenge stereotyping and promote equality and diversity.

Typical CEIAG activities include,

  • Independent speakers
  • Assemblies
  • Educational visits
  • Trips to Colleges & Universities
  • Enterprise activities

In yrs10-13 students will access individual meetings and targeted small group sessions with our careers advisor who is based on site for two days a week.

In addition to this all students have ongoing learning conversations with Form Tutors and Achievement Leaders.

We are also working in partnership with a range of local businesses through the ‘Make the Grade’ and ‘Business in the Community’ Projects.  Recent activities have included;

  • Annual Careers Conference
  • Asda Pet Treat Challenge
  • Premier Farnell Wearable Technology Challenge
  • Employability Functional Workshop
  • Interview Skills Workshops
  • Business Employability Days
  • Business Enterprise Challenge
