Careers Education Information and Guidance (CEIAG)
All students are entitled to CEIAG which meets professional standards of practice and is student centred, impartial and confidential.

At Swallow Hill, the CEIAG is integrated into the students' experience of the whole curriculum and is based on partnership with them and their parents and carers. It is differentiated and personalised according to ability and is appropriate to the students' stage of learning. Ultimately, it will raise aspirations, challenge stereotyping and promote equality and diversity.

Typical CEIAG activities at Swallow Hill include:
  • Independent speakers
  • Assemblies
  • Educational visits
  • Trips to colleges and universities
  • Enterprise Activites
In Years 10 and 11, students will access individual meetings and targeted small group sessions with our careers advisor, Chris Humberstone, who is based on site once a week.

In addition to all of this, students have ongoing learning conversations with key pastoral staff in the academy, namely their Form Tutors and Achievement Leaders.

The academy is also proud of the links we have created with local businesses to enhance the careers education that we offer our students. We work in partnership with a wide range of local businesses through the 'Make the Grade' and 'Business in the Community' projects. Recent activities have including:
  • Annual Careers Conferences
  • Asda Pet Treat Challenge
  • Premier Farnell Wearable Technology Challenge
  • Employability Functional Workshops
  • Interview Skills Workshops
  • Business Employability Days
  • Business Enterprise Challenges
