Care, Guidance and Support

Swallow Hill is a fully inclusive academy, meaning that every member of the academy community has a collective responsibility to help make Swallow Hill the best Learning Community that it can be for every stakeholder, regardless of their background or ability.

Tutor Groups

When students join the academy, they are placed into a tutor group with whom they will remain until the end of their academy career. These tutor groups and the tutors that lead them are the primary deliverers of pastoral care at Swallow Hill.

Tutor time takes place first thing in the morning and ensures that our students have the chance to explore and discuss both pastoral and academic issues with their tutors and each other.

Year Teams

Each year group has an Achievement Leader and an Assistant Achievement Leader who take the lead roles in managing and supporting the pastoral care of their students. Assistant Achievement Leaders have no teaching commitments and are available to the students before and after school as well as throughout the academy day.

Both the Achievement Leader and Assistant Achievement Leader not only support students whilst they are in the academy, but also liase with parents and carers to ensure that they are being supported at home.

Further Support

Further support is available through the Special Needs Department, Student Support and Welfare Team, the Behaviour Management Team and the Advice Information and Guidance team including our careers officer.
