We appreciate that the transition process from primary to school to secondary school can be daunting, that's why we take great pride in offering a tailored and unique transition experience.

Our high quality transition program starts in the very first weeks of year 6, when key staff from our Senior Leadership Team and our Transition Team visit our local primary schools to speak to students and introduce themselves. Following this, we open our doors to parents and prospective students for our open evening, enabling them to experience Swallow Hill Community College for themselves.

Once the local authority admissions team have offered places to year 6 students, we hold three transition days across several weeks. Any prospective student who has been offered a place at Swallow Hill Community College is invited to attend these days to 'get a taste' of academy life and to familiarise themselves with the daily workings of our academy. This is also a great opportunity to meet the staff and other students who will be working with them throughout their academy career.

The transition program ends with an optional two week Summer School that takes place through the summer holidays.

A Message from the Transition Leader

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Swallow Hill Community College. We are extremely excited that you have chosen to join Swallow Hill and we look forward to welcoming you and your child into our academy.

I would like to introduce myself as the Year 7 Achievement and Transition Leader. I will be here to support you and your child through the transition process and ensure that you are familiar with life at Swallow Hill prior to starting in September.

We understand that you and your child are entering a period of significant change and we will do everything to ensure that the transition process is as smooth as possible.

This page will be treated as a 'Transition Hub' and will be updated regularly with all relevant information regarding the transition process. Should you wish to contact me, you can call the academy on 0113 2630110 or email me directly at and I will endeavour to respond as soon as possible.
